Five Days at Hongkong and Macao

English Conversation Extra Curricular Class has a special program to do every year. That’s studying abroad. This year, the English Conversation Extra Curricular Class’ students go to Hongkong and Macao to practice English and to learn the other country’s culture on 24 – 28 March, 2014.         16 students and Ms. Alfanti joined this program and it was arranged by Mr. Handoko, our tour leader. We had to be ready at school on March 23rd, at 7 p.m. to get the final preparation.

On Monday, March 24th at 1 a.m. we left Malang to Juanda Airport, Surabaya and arrived at about 3 a.m. We had to wait for about 30 minutes to do check in. It took for an hour as we had to do it one by one in line. After that we had to go to the next floor waiting for boarding. Finally at 6 a.m. we were called to go inside the Royal Brunai Airline. And at 6.30 a.m. the plane flew high in the sky to Brunai Darussalam. We had to transit at Brunai Darussalam to change with another Royal Brunai Airline to Hongkong.

At 01.40 p.m. we arrived at Hongkong International Airport. Mrs. Merry, our Hongkong local tour guide picked us up. Then we went to our hotel by a very clean big bus. Arriving at Panda Hotel, we got our room key and we got into our room. Thirty minutes to go, we had to be ready at the lobby. We planned to go to the Lady market. It was a traditional market. It sold many kinds of clothes, t-shirt, souvenirs, bags, and others. We could bargain in this market but the things they sold were not as good as a department store.

The second day, we went to visit Avenue of Stars, Tung Chung, Ngo Ping (cable car), and Victoria Peak. Tung Chung was a place at the top of the mountain. There was a big Budha temple. If you wanted to go there you might take a cable car from Ngo Ping and it took an hour to get there. If you were afraid to take a cable car, there was land transportation as well. Inside the cable car, we could enjoy very beautiful scenery from above.

Victoria Peak was very popular. The peak was located at the top of a tall tower and we could see Hong Kong view from it. Going to the top of the peak, we would see a lot of cheap souvenirs we can buy. And there was a candle statue of some popular artists and well known people around the world. We had to pay $240 HKD to enjoy the candle statue.

The third day, we visited Macao. It was very clean and everything was so beautiful. There were many interesting places we visited such as St. Paul, Senado Square, A-Ma Temple, and Bubble Show. The ruined of St. Paul is still popular nowadays. We could go inside the underground church and take some pictures. Along the way to the St. Paul there were many kinds of food stalls, branded things, and souvenirs shop.

The fourth day we visited Disneyland. We really excited to go to Disneyland.
